Xscape Se trata de un nuevo álbum que incluye ocho nuevas canciones del ‘Rey del Pop’ bajo un título que conmemora el proceso que utilizaba el cantante para nombrar sus discos. Cuentan sus productores, Epic Records, que el cantante elegía siempre el título de una canción para bautizar el disco y que a partir de Thriller (1982) Jackson solo utilizaba una palabra con este propósito.

La producción del álbum ha estado coordinada por L.A. Reid, famoso por haber ayudado a llegar al mundo a los trabajos de Mariah Carey, Avril Lavigne, Pink, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Kanye West, Usher o Dido. Para este proyecto ha sido necesaria además la colaboración del archivo del artista, al que Reid ha tenido acceso ilimitado. Décadas de material inédito y grabaciones vocales de Michael Jackson. La familia del cantante firmó un acuerdo con Sony, propietaria de Epic Records, para editar varios discos póstumos después de su muerte.

Tras realizar una primera selección Reid formó un equipo para tratar de “contemporaneizar” las canciones sin perder la esencia e integridad de Michael Jackson. Entre estos revisores se encontraban productores de la talla de Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate y John McClain. La edición Deluxe de Xscape incluirá esta preselección con las grabaciones originales. Será el segundo disco póstumo del artistas tras la publicación, un año después de su muerte de Michael. “Michael rozaba siempre al límite y siempre estaba buscando nuevos productores para lograr nuevos sonidos. Siempre obteniía resultados relevantes y actuales. Estas pistas capturan ese espíritu en muchos sentidos y le damos las gracias a L.A. Reid por esta revisión”, han explicado los gerentes del legado del artista John Branca and John McClain.
