"LOVE THY WILL BE DONE". MARTIKA. Un Intento De Reinventar Una Nueva Madonna A Finales De Los 80´s. Fue Todo Un Fracaso.

Martika es una cantante estadounidense de música pop, nacida en Los Ángeles, California, el 18 de mayo de 1969. Su nombre verdadero es Marta Marrero, y es hija de padres inmigrantes cubanos. Tika, como la llaman sus amigos, contando con tan solo 12 años de edad, actuó en el magistral filme musical Annie dirigido por el aclamado John Huston. En 1983, con tan solo 14 años, protagonizó el personaje de Gloria en el popular show televisivo de los 80's llamado Kids Incorporated. Para 1989 debutó con su primer disco homónimo titulado Martika. Rápidamente su estilo y carisma musical captaron la atención de la industria musical; la canción Toy Soldiers (que también grabó en español, con el título "Como un Juguete"), alcanzó la posición #1 del Billboard, y temas como More Than you Know, I Fell The Earth Move (Siento la tierra moverse), cover del tema original interpretado por Carol King, y Water acogieron gran notoriedad a nivel mundial, que rápidamente la hicieron merecedora de una nominación al premio Grammy.

En 1991 participó en el Festival Internacional de la Canción de Viña del Mar y meses después lanzó su segundo álbum, Martika’s Kitchen, cuyo disco contó con la colaboración de su amigo Prince en la composición de algunos temas como el recordado hit Love...Thy Will Be Done. En los siguientes años, Martika se mantuvo inactiva e incluso se pensó que su carrera musical había terminado, pero en 1997 lanza un álbum compilatorio titulado The Best of Martika: More Than You Know vendiendo cerca de las 500,000 copias internacionalmente.

Para el 2003 forma el proyecto Oppera junto al músico y marido Michael Mozart y al año siguiente lanzan el álbum Violince
