True Blue, de Madonna (1986).A lo largo de su dilatada carrera Madonna ha cosechado numerosos éxitos, y ha realizado multitud de álbums de gran calidad. Casi todos los entendidos coinciden en resaltar sobre todo tres de ellos: True Blue, Like a Prayer y Ray of Light. Pero fue con el primero con el que consiguió su primer gran éxito a nivel mundial. Y fue con este disco con el que se forjó la leyenda de Reina del Pop y abandonó con él la imagen de grandes collares y pulseras de plástico por una más en la línea del look latino.

Este álbum salió a la luz el 30 de junio de 1986, tras el “boom” que supuso su segundo disco titulado Like a Virgin. La discográfica con la que se realizó fue la Warner Bros., y la producción estuvo a cargo de Patrick Leonard, Stephen Bray y la propia Madonna. Era un enorme reto superar el gran número de ventas del anterior, pero se consiguió sobradamente, ya que True Blue vendió más de 19 millones de copias en todo el mundo. Consiguió llegar al número uno en Estados Unidos y en 27 países más, algo sin precedentes para una cantante femenina hasta ese momento, y le valió la nominación a los Grammy y el premio MTV como Mejor Cantante Femenina. El disco se compone de nueve canciones, y, debido a su gran éxito, de él se extrajeron cinco singles. Todos ellos llegaron a los primeros puestos en los ránkings de diferentes países.

La primera de las canciones que aparecen en este disco es la famosa “Papa Don”t Preach”, en la que una adolescente embarazada le cuenta su problema a su padre y le dice que quiere tener el bebé. El vídeo que se realizó para esta canción fue dirigido por James Foley y fue rodado en Staten Island, Nueva York. El encargado de representar al atribulado padre de la cantante fue el actor Danny Aiello. Fue el segundo single que se extrajo de este álbum y consiguió llegar al primer puesto de las listas de éxitos tanto en Estados Unidos como en el Reino Unido.El segundo tema es “Open Your Heart”, una canción de amor no correspondido en la que Madonna se declara y le pide a su “Romeo” que le abra su corazón y se dé cuenta de lo que ella siente. Se sacó como cuarto single del álbum, y alcanzó el número uno en su país. El vídeo fue rodado en Los Ángeles, y es uno de los primeros en que aparece un tema recurrente en la artista: las imágenes de gran ambigüedad sexual.La siguiente canción es “White Heat”, una canción de ritmo pegadizo y muy bailable en la que la artista pide más de su pareja, al tiempo que dice que va a coger las riendas de la relación. Una canción de relleno sin mucho más que comentar.La canción que aparece en cuarto lugar es la famosa “Live to Tell”, “vivir para contarlo”. Fue el primer single que se extrajo de este álbum, y pronto llegó al número uno en las listas de ventas de Inglaterra y Estados Unidos. Esta balada sirvió de banda sonora para la película de su entonces marido, Sean Penn, llamada “At Close Range”, y fue escrita entre Patrick Leonard y Madonna. La letra nos habla de que los hombres cuentan mil mentiras, pero que, tras un desengaño, ahora ya conoce la verdad y puede vivir para contarlo. En el vídeo que acompañó su lanzamiento se intercalaban imágenes de la película con las de Madonna cantando sentada en una silla en mitad de la oscuridad.

Otra de las canciones divertidas y bailables de este disco que no tiene gran trascendencia es “Where”s the Party”. En ella la artista nos cuenta que cuando llega el fin de semana quiere bailar, pasárselo bien y disfrutar. Porque para las obligaciones ya existe el resto de la semana…

En sexto lugar aparece la canción que da título al álbum “True Blue”, una canción de amor que consiguió alcanzar el número uno en Reino Unido y el tercer puesto en las listas norteamericanas. Como curiosidad, hay que comentar que hay dos versiones diferentes del vídeo de esta canción, ya que en Inglaterra se realizó un concurso para dar ideas sobre cómo se podría hacer, y los ganadores fueron Ángel Gracia y Cliff West. Pero sin duda el vídeo más recordado es el que fue dirigido por James Foley, en el que una Madonna con el pelo rubio platino rememora la estética de los años cincuenta con un trío de chicas haciendo los coros. En este tercer single del disco, la letra nos cuenta la historia de una chica que descubre de la mano de su mejor amigo el amor verdadero.

“La Isla Bonita” es la siguiente de las canciones incluidas en este disco. Tanto su música como su letra tienen un sabor latino que causó una grata impresión en multitud de países como Reino Unido, Japón, Alemania o Francia, que la premiaron con el número uno en sus listas. En Estados Unidos alcanzó un aceptable cuarto puesto. El vídeo que acompañó el lanzamiento de este último single del álbum fue dirigido por Mary Lambert, y mezcla las imágenes de Madonna rezando con las de la artista vestida de flamenca, bailando y recordando a San Pedro. Fue grabado en Los Ángeles, aunque su estética nos trae a la mente una isla tropical de habla hispana. 

La penúltima canción se titula “Jimmy, Jimmy”, y es un tema de ritmo pegadizo con un sonido típicamente ochentero. Trata sobre un chico que vive en un pueblo, pero que le gusta vivir al límite y siente que se le queda pequeño. Por eso necesita huir a una gran ciudad.

El último tema de este álbum es una preciosa balada cuyo título es “Love Makes the World Go Round”, “El amor hace girar al mundo”. Es una canción con mensaje cuya letra nos recuerda que a pesar del dolor y el sufrimiento que hay en todo el mundo (hambre, guerras…), es un sentimiento tan bello como el amor el que domina y le da sentido a la existencia.
